Canon SX60?

http://thenewcamera.com/tag/canon-sx60-hs/

60x? (Maybe better so long as they don't reduce the wide angle at the low end) better light sensitivity? (Much needed) 15 megapixel? (Pointless specsmanship that could hurt more than help.

It may even tempt me back into the 'superzoom' fold!

can't wait for the SX60 announcement . . . the 100x optical zoom seems quite likely now according to most 'rumour sites' (and given that the patent was published a few months ago).

for me though, a good upgrade from my SX50 would be a slightly larger sensor, faster lens, 3" 900k+ screen & most definitely a mic input jack. All these things i'm sure they could easily do if they so desired, but it's probably going to be 'reasonable unit price' that will govern what's in & what's out.

Ya. Extra zoom is not what's needed. What's needed it improvement on those other items. Mainly I'd want to see better low light capability.

June 1. Still no news. I thought Canon said that they would announce specs in May.

With that sort of spec would be interested in trading in my SX40, never thought the 50 was that much of an upgrade for me as I use it mainly for video.

If it really gets pushed out to Sept. they will miss my vacations when I'd want it the most. Pretty sure Canon said May announcement but it's now June.

I am not sure that Canon have ever made any official announcements about a date for the SX60 - what we are seeing is just rumors and speculation.

Two weeks ago I went to a big photography shop in Madrid to look for a lens cover for my sx50. They said that the camera was not more in the shop because they were waiting for the sx60. Not only us are questioning about it, a shop was waiting for units. Its surprising this delay.

I think it was your post about the price drop of the predecessor to 239 that made me check again!!
But it's been 'due out' since April so we'll wait and see!

. Canon do not usually attend the Bird Fair, they seem to leave the coast clear for Nikon to attend this event.

Sorry Dipped and Tarsiger you are both correct. I always seem to notice Nikon more as they are prominent at the entrance end of the optics tent.

At Birdfair yesterday, I made an effort to queue at the Canon stall to talk to one of the representatives. I asked them what they could tell me about the long awaited Canon SX60? The answer, they know nothing about this camera! One of the representatives said he was surprised Canon had not already released a new bridge Camera in line with market opposition. However, no one there could shed any light on this fabled bridge camera

I was talking to one of the Canon guys there about the 7D mk11, SX60 and the 100-400 mk11 lens. Kept saying He did not anything about this but talking and talking to him whilst he was pleading ignorance I had the distinct feeling that he knew but all had been told to keep their mouths close about these.

Their next show is round about early September when the 7D mk11 is due to be announced which leads me to believe they have to some extent already been briefed.

They always say they know nothing but photokina is coming up in Germany soon and they always save big announcements for that.

Have we reached a time where no matter what you improve upon with the 60, or 70 or 80 or 100 or whatever they come out with, that the actual benefit to us as birders is somewhat null. There is really only so much zoom we can use, etc.... But I can see improvements on other things such as FPS etc...

Lower light capability and then faster focus is what i'd value most.
