Interested in comments about the following book.

A Dictionary of Birds by Campbell & Lack. 1985.

Thank You

Worth having, especially at the low prices it's offered at nowadays. \

I use it less often than I do its great predecessor, Newton's Dictionary, or Frank Gill's textbook, but it's handy, compact, and fairly comprehensive. (I'd have titled it a "short encyclopedia" rather than a "dictionary.")

Did you have specific questions?

Can you give me a few suggestions for my "Get Serious" bird book shelf.

The Migration Ecology of Birds (2008),

The Speciation and Biogeography of Birds (2003),

Population Limitation in Birds (1998),

all by Ian Newton published by Academic Press.

Although full of technical aspects, Ian Newton writes superbly well, and there's an enormous amount of content of interest to the lay person.
