Some pictures from Sonoma (California) in august.

The bird in picture 2 and 3 with a very short tail doesn't match with anything...

The other 2 birds, in picture 1, the small one seems a house finch(?) and the other one, I have no idea.

Agree with Western Bluebird and House Finch.

The Western Bluebird on the wire has lost its tail through some accident or near escape from a predator; it is not normally so short and that is why it does not match anything in the field guide.

I am pretty sure the other bird is a house sparrow and not a house finch. Agree with western bluebird.

I disagree with House Sparrow for the bird on the left in the first photo. I am confident it's a House Finch. Its beak is noticeably curved and bulky, more so than a House Sparrow's. And I would expect to see dark streaks on the back of a female House Sparrow. Its flanks are in bright sunlight and the photo quality isn't great which makes it difficult to see streaking there.

Have to agree. The tail’s a bit long for House Sparrow as well. . ..
