The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth
Jeez,
with exactly 300 votes (and thus at least 300 keen binocular spartans) even I can work this out - again ! (discrepancies, duplications, omissions, and issues raised so far not withstanding)
~ nearly 3/5ths are full sized (~42mm) -- 58%
~ 1/3 are mid sized (~32mm) -- 32%
~ 1 in 10 is still some sort of other weirdo ! :-O -- 10%
3 users have no friends (coz friends don't let friends use variable power binoculars)
9 users (3%) are toting 10x50's.
There's even a couple of 12's.
So slightly more of a shift to full size bins - this may be accounting for some systemic statistical anomaly effects on the first 100.
In the full sized bins (175 total) nearly 3/5th of those were ~8x, a sixth were 7x (so they've hung in there quite well - despite one well known forum member defecting to 8x
, and nearly a quarter were 10x
In the mid sized bins (97 total if we include the [13] 30mm bins too) five 6ths were 8x (down some), just over an eigth were 10x (up some), and there was a solitary 6x32, and two 7x32.
So far the most popular bin (25%) in any format is the 8x42 :king: ~ which is a change in the crown from the 8x32 previously.
Next most popular was the 8x32, followed by the 10x42 (the 8x32 just trailing by 8 units, and the 10x42 half the numbers of 8x42's). Honourable mention goes to the 7x42, and 8.5x42 users - each around 3/8ths to 1/3rd of the 8x42.
To summarize you could say that the 8/8.5x42 format is the most popular with a third of the total bins. Next comes the 8x30/32 with a bit over a quarter of the total bins. Together they make up a smidge over three /fifths of the total of 300 so far.
To save cyberspace, it was my bin that was still the lone 8x43 freak (though the objective actually measures out something like 41mm !
.. always knew I was a 1%er
o
It's a bit sad that I'm the only one enjoying perfect Zen ergonomics - but there you go ! |

Obviously BF is no longer populated by a stack of little old ladies (still a lot of blokes built like cricket bats though !
, while the too busy to vote (but not too busy to spam/troll certain threads) real hairy-chested HunTers are carting their huge chunks of glass up and down mountainsides one handed with a deer carcass slung over one shoulder and kicking cougars, wolves, and grizzly bears out of the way with their army boots ! 3
though quite a few more 42mm users - particularly 8x do seem to have come out of the closet ! :eek!:
Chosun :gh:
