Hi, over here for the bikes but spotted this while driving from Bride to Ramsey on the A10 at 4.30pm today. It was circling in thermals with Gulls and drifting north. Thought it was a Stork but after stopping the van and getting my binos on it I am convinced it is a Common Crane.

Regards, Pete

Pete,

Thanks for letting us know. I can only remember 2 previous records in the Isle of Man. Is this the usual time of the year that cranes would turn up in your part of the world?

Hi Allen, I've never seen a Crane in the British Isles before, only in Spain, so its a first for me. I expect to see Hen Harriers on the mountain when I'm here,, but not a Crane while driving to Ramsey! Hope it hangs around for a few days.

Pete
