40+ House Martin remain at the colony,.........with birds seen to be nest building/repairing frantically from early morning onwards,.....it's a mystery, as to why it took until 20/05/18 to finally see a couple of birds back at the colony, but brilliant to see them settling in again so quickly.

The local House Martin colony, continue building/repairing their nests at some pace.

Common Tern number's remain stable,.......although, after having spoken to one of the guy's this morning, who's involved in carrying out the only count that matter's, regarding the colony, it would appear at this stage, that we have many more tern's at the colony this year, than I thought myself,.........which is fantastic news, ( and confirms my earlier Posts, where I stated that I thought that my counts were generally inaccurate and unreliable, regarding the official number of tern's/gull's present.......as a result of being restricted, to counting from the Observation Tower only.

Black Headed Gull colony remains stable.

Three Great Egrets, Med gull and Common Redstart best of todays birds on DNS reserve.

Thanks Pete......

I remember finding the 1st Great White Egret on the reserve a few years ago, and all the excitement that followed that particular find at the time, but I never thought that I would see the day, so soon after that find, when there were 3 birds reported from a single visit to the reserve......a real testimony to the increasing number's of this species that are now recorded on the estuary.......a great find by the way!
