Away with the dickie birds!
Been birding about two years and have built a basic knowlege base. I have been shown a kumliens gull and a cackling goose by local birders recently and was wondering where ( if at all ) to list them as they do not appear on any listings I have. cheers

Kumlien's gull is a subspecies of Iceland Gull (Larus glaucoides kumlieni). It would generally not be counted as a separate tick on your checklist (unless of course you haven't seen any other subspecies of Iceland Gull. Although it is good to keep track of different subspecies, and I have a separate sheet within my excel lifelist that does this.

Cackling Goose (Branta hutchinsii) is a recent split from Canada Goose, and so would presumably be placed next to that species on a list.

Although of course you can always count whatever/however you want
