Butterflies of the Forbidden Kingdom - China (2 Viewers)

Species No : 27 - Sinthusa chandrana

In Nanjing Laoshan Forest Farm, among the mature trees and bamboos, there is the cash crop tea plantation. Very few butterflies took interest in the tea. One among them is the, Broad Spark.

Common Name : Broad Spark
Scientific Name : Sinthusa chandrana
Chinese Name : 生灰蝶
Distribution :, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hainan, Taiwan.

Although, this one was seen in Jiangsu, Handbook nor the Chinese wiki doesn't include in distribution range.

Species No : 28- Ahlbergia Nicevillei

Continuing from the early spring. A very striking butterfly, although tiny, the indifferent wing shape was quite obvious.

Scientific Name : Ahlbergia Nicévillei
Chinese Name : 尼采梳灰蝶
Distribution : Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hubei, Yunnan

Species No : 29 - Pieris melete

This seems to be the most common Pieris species around Nanjing, more than the Small White.

Common Name : Green-veined White
Scientific Name : Pieris melete
Chinese Name : 黑纹粉蝶
Distribution : Very wide distribution (Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Henan, Shaanxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Guangxi, Yunnan, Qinghai, Tibet etc)
