Really nice area, north of Shrewsbury.I visited The Mere in the middle of Feb 2003 it is a large area of water, with good parking and access.Bit near the town so can be busy with dog walkers e.t.c.Held good number of ducks wigeon, tufted, teal, goldeneye and gossander....also several tame ducks being fed!! Other birdlife there were cormorants, lots of gull's and great crested grebe's.

There are other mere's nearby Ive only visited Colemere nearby, which is a smaller lake, but has a marsh beside it and a nice woodland walk.

The Mere currently has a Black-necked Grebe on it !! Colemere has recently had a small number of Scaup and Wood Lane has held a few good gull's ... Iceland and Yellow-legged .
