Leupold Olympic 12x50 (1 Viewer)

I am looking for a 12x to 15x binocular for raptor and distant wildlife observing.
I did something similar; I bought a Minolta Activa 10x50 for distant ducks, etc. But though it was a good enough binocular, it didn't help. It was only when I got an Opticron HR WP 8x42 (same as Leupold Cascades), one of the best porros on the market, that I saw some improvement. My conclusion was that I needed to increase optical quality, not magnification.

Hi Bob, I´m a recent convert to larger mag bins. I used to love 10x, then switched to 8x, which is still my fave, obviously, for closer work or cover. But I recently bought a pair of Canon IS 12x50 and they are absolutely superb. There´s a thread about them in the Canon Bins forum, check out what people have to say.
