Year at a glance:

- Overall I've seen 274 species and heard an additional 3. For my personal photography challenge, I've photographed 271 out of 274 (not photographed: Short-toed Snake Eagle, Eurasian Woodcock and Western Barn Owl).
- Of these, 11 were Turkish ticks. Common Quail would've been a lifer too had I seen it.
- The number of rarities and scarcities I've seen were higher compared to other years. The rarest birds were Blyth's Pipit (co-found, 10th for Turkey), Cyprus Warbler (c.15th record) and Tundra Bean Goose (c.20th record).
- This has been my highest year list to date.
- As usual being a student meant I could spend nowhere near the amount of time I've wanted to spend in the field. Not only were my birding trips very brief but they were also mostly confined to regions near Ankara. Not being able to visit the East or Southeast cost me a lot of potential year ticks (and lifers).
- Especially the period between mid May-end July was spent almost solely studying for my finals, which meant ridiculously low amount of year ticks, and plain birding in general. This is the period where I've missed the most number of potential year ticks. Had I been more free during this time I would've easily passed 300 without even going far from Ankara.
- The most glaring omissions include Grey Partridge, Common Pheasant, Common Crane, Jack Snipe, Little, Pallas's, Mew & Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Egyptian & Cinereous Vultures, European Honey Buzzard, Booted & White-tailed Eagles, Montagu's Harrier, Black Kite, Black Woodpecker, Merlin, Eleonora's Falcon, Woodlark, Horned Lark, Eastern Bonelli's Warbler, Eurasian Treecreeper, Rosy Starling, Rufous-tailed Scrub Robin, Blue Rock Thrush, Red Crossbill, Red-fronted Serin and Ortolan & Rock Buntings.
