Loon ID? [Moss Landing, California] (1 Viewer)

These pictures were shot yesterday (August 16) at Moss Landing harbor. My guess is this is a common loon in non-breeding plumage, but it looks somewhat different from the common loon pictures I was able to find so far.

Help with definitive ID will be much appreciated!

I think this is a worn out 1st Summer Common Loon. But then I have a current loon question too. Hopefully this will create some discussion, pretty mottley looking individual though.
