Can anybody help. We are going to Tyrol area of Austria in May 2003 and wish to do a little bird watching there. Any places to go , books etc. you can recommend ? As we have hired a car whilst there and don't mind a bit of walking nearly anywhere is accessable to us. I found a bit of info at
http://www.eurobirding.co.uk/austria.htm[/U]
any others would be appreciated.
The birds of the area we are going to are listed as

BIRDS INCLUDE: Lammergeier (reintroduced), Griffon Vulture, Golden Eagle, Common Kestrel, Ptarmigan, Black Grouse, Rock Partridge, Long-eared Owl, Pygmy Owl, Three-toed Woodpecker,

Water Pipit, Grey Wagtail, Willow Tit, Black Redstart, Western Bonelli's Warbler, Common Crossbill, Snowfinch, Common Jay, Northern Raven, Carrion Crow

PS I did not know what a Lammergier was if you want to see one go to Austria ! or you can download a picture of one below.

Love the illustration. Perhaps you'll come back with a photograph of a real Lammergeier. Have a good trip!
