Black Wheatear Extremadura (1 Viewer)

Hi all, visiting Extremadura soon, staying near Trujillo and was wondering if anyone knew of any sites for Black Wheatear relatively nearby.

Many thanks in advance.

Black Wheatear is still apparently present in the same numbers as before, but it definitely shies away for more visited sites.

One is showing at extreme range on the slopes to the top right of Peñafalcón in Monfragüe. Otherwise, the Valdecañas Dam (near Arrocampo) area sometimes comes up trumps, while the road down to the base of the old bridge over the Río Almonte, N of Cáceres, is probably the best site. But please don't use tapes / playback. The best area in general IMO is the Alange rock outcrop down just S of Mérida and the sierras running down to and including the Hornachos range S of there.

Hope this helps!

John
