Hello all;

Can I get some more help PLEASE!

I know this one should be a doddle; but it has me stumped!

Seen in South Africa, Kruger National Park - southern sectors - in October...

MANY thanks in advance...

My guess would be a juvenile Blacksmith Plover.

Hi Andrew;

Thanks for the super-quick response...

If it is; it must have been VERY young! About the size of a Turnstone I thought. Certainly way smaller than an adult Blacksmith...

But, there were many Blacksmiths around, so it looks like a good call...

Thanks again...

Lee

Here's one I took 6 days ago near Cape Town. The parents were nearby and very noisy when this little fellow popped out from between the rocks.

The curse of the birding classes - now renamed Blacksmith Lapwing.

To whoever is out there messing about with common names - LEAVE THEM ALONE! That is why we have a binomial scientific nomenclature!
