Any Stone Curlew back at Weeting Heath yet? (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

Have any Stone Curlew returned to Weeting Heath NWT yet? Thinking about heading over there this weekend if birds are back.

Cheers B :)

To answer my own question I found a phone number for the reserve and there are at least 4 birds present today and they've been in for about 2 weeks.

Hopefully get over there on Saturday, weather and wife permitting.

Anybody who goes to Weeting for Stone Curlew, could they report any Stoat sightings on BF please? One of my friends has been dipping for a couple of years now and desperation is setting in.

Cheers

I usually see Stoat on every visit to Weeting Heath, it's the Little Owl that has eluded me most recently.

If you really want to see Stoat then Mount Grace Priory in North Yorkshire is the place. They're pretty used to humans too and will carry on as normal whilst you get close views.

I've heard that, and saw the TV prog, which was great: but I dipped them at Mount Grace last Tuesday (then jammed one at Fishpond Woods). Would you say that at Mount Grace I was unlucky? I was there for a couple of hours and saw no Stoats or Rabbits, mind you that was late morning through to early afternoon. Is any particular time of day better?

Nice that they are still a dead cert at Weeting though.

Cheers

I would always say early morning/late evening visits are best for Stoat though I've seen them at all times of the day when they're feeding kits.
