Can anyone help? I have my 4500 attached to my Nikon ED50 and a shutter release button but the flash comes up when I take a shot.What am I doing wrong?

Turn off/disable the flash, instructions in the handbook.

Hi tuffturner I see this is your first post, so may I welcome you on behalf of the Staff and Moderators at Bird Forum

It sounds like you have your camera set on Auto, which makes it think that there is not enough light. If you wish to continue on Auto, then you'd need to press the little button on the bottom left to get the Landscape setting (shows a mountain in the screen).
