CRYPTIC plumage 2 (1 Viewer)

Why :king:

Enlarge under glass at 100 x, then ship to end in a hole under par (without that is)

To enlarge is to magnify/magnifies
It is sent by ship, a type of which could be a frigate
And one under par is a birdie
Take away the i’s and squadge them together and that’s what I got :t:

Lol, not quite the right path but very very nearly!

Enlarge under glass = magnifi
x 100 = by ‘cent’ (so ‘magnifi’ by ‘cent’)
Then ship (= frigate) to end of Magnificent (so Magnificent Frigate)
In a hole under par = birdie = ‘birdie’ without ‘that is’ = birdie minus the ‘ie’ !!

Well done full marks because it got you there anyway B :)

....so just the 100x I didn’t really have workings for, but once I got magnify, it was sent by frigate, and knew it was a birdie, the rest of the clue seemed superfluous so didn’t give it much thought tbh :-O as there wasn’t a lot else in the Nearctic, let alone World, that it might have otherwise been |:D|

1. Eleanora’s Falcon

Yes indeed!

Island Queen = is of course, Eleanora, Queen/Judge of Sardinia who protected the falcons of the Island and after whom are named.
short American Autumn = Fal(l)
deception = con
produces late breeder = Eleanora’s Falcon, which famously don’t breed until late August to maximise migrating bird prey over the sea

I’ll post more later

Edible-nest swiftlet

It is the only bird I can think of with edible (suitable for consumption) in its name. Also I think its nest is used for bird's nest soup - cook putting it in stews.

Absolutely right Kits with the answer - so a nice Kitty for you :cat:

The cook and stews was a crafty distraction (because yes the nests are edible - they are widely cultivated in Asia) BUT cook here means to change/mix left in stews in other words its an anagram of Nest Swiftlet!

2. Ruddy turnstone

Glowing healthily = ruddy

Beachcomber = turning stones over plus the pun on tern
