The Ospreywatch team have just announced that this year’s Ospreywatch in Cumbria, is cancelled due to coronavirus, and all the facilities and viewpoints are closed. They will keep the website and social media pages updated with news.

Could be a bumper year for wildlife...
For some; but not for birds of prey - the criminals involved in raptor killing don't have any scruples about the law, whether raptor protection law or coronavirus restriction law, so will take maximum use of the reduced obverver coverage to kill raptors.

Exactly the same happened in the foot & mouth outbreak a few years ago; a nascent Osprey population prospecting rivers in Northumbs all vanished during that closure period.

Although there is no official Ospreywatch this year, it has just been announced, on their Facebook page, that the 2020 Bassenthwiate Ospreys, appear to be feeding young! They will be able to tell us how many when they are old enough to lift their hears up out of the nest cup.
