Pools.........4 Mallard, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Moorhen, 13 Teal, 11 Coot, 31 Tufted Duck, 3 Canada Goose, 1 Goldeneye, and 1 Wigeon, with 4 Grey Wagtail, 2 Grey Heron, 7 Redshank, 34 Lapwing, and 1 Spotted Crake (male), seen feeding along the dry pool edges.

1 Water Rail was heard.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

2 Great White Egret, were noted as 'flyovers'.

Rough Grassland/Scrub........30+ Long Tailed Tit, 3 Linnet, 12 Goldfinch, 1 Raven, and 2 Buzzard.

1 Kingfisher was noted.

1 Water Rail was heard.

Rough Grassland/Scrub...........20+ Redwing, 1 Raven, and 2 Buzzard.

*** Since my last visit, the Ringing guys have caught another Yellow Browed Warbler, ( which is now jointly, our 5th record for here ),......but as a Patch Worker, who is rarely able to fully appreciate the beauty of this bird, from the views that I get, as it 'flits' around the bushes, the photograph that the guys have taken of the bird, has enabled me to truly see, what a SMASHING little bird this is..........well done guys ! ***

Pools.........13 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 33 Teal, 43 Tufted Duck, 12 Mallard, and an unusually high, 24 Mute Swan, with 36 Lapwing, and 1 Green Sandpiper, around the perimeter's.

4 Great White Egret were noted as 'flyovers'.

Rough Grassland/Scrub...........3 Marsh Harrier, ( unusually high, but as with the Mute Swan, probably pushed off the adjacent marshes by the very high tide ), 21 Redwing, 1 Fieldfare, ( 1st of Autumn ), 2 Kestrel, 3 Buzzard, 2 Reed Bunting, 2 Linnet, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Stonechat, and also, 80+ Twite,...... Connah's Quay 'Patcher's'.........eye's to the West Hide !

Jackdaw Roost held 500+ birds.

Starling Roost held 500+ birds.

7 Grey Wagtail, were roosting in the SSSI reed beds.

Pools........7 Mallard, 63 Tufted Duck, 11 Coot, 6 Moorhen, 43 Teal, 16 Canada Goose, 2 Mute Swan, 2 Shoveler, and 2 Little Grebe, were counted.

20+ Robin were noted.

1 Kingfisher was seen.

1 Water Rail was heard.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

800+ Pink Footed Goose, 6 Great White Egret, 2 Black Swan, and 2 Twite, were recorded as 'flyovers'.

Rough Grassland/Scrub.......1 Kestrel, 1 Buzzard, 1 Merlin, 2 Stonechat, 15 Stock Dove, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 6 Reed Bunting, 3 Jay, and 6 Goldcrest, were noted.

The morning 'kicked off' in fine style today, with the best Birding that I've enjoyed here for many years, with 2 Barn Owl, seen hunting at first light for approximately 45 minutes, before going to roost, and giving me some superb close up views at times.........what magnificent birds these are!

Jackdaw Roost, numbered approximately 500+ birds.

Starling Roost, in SSSI reed beds, numbered approximately 500+ birds.

Grey Wagtail Roost, in SSSI reed beds, numbered 14 birds.

1 Kingfisher was noted.

3 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

2 Water Rail were heard.

Pools.......5 Mute Swan, 8 Coot, 10 Mallard, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Moorhen, 20 Teal, 3 Gadwall, 1 Goldeneye, and 28 Tufted Duck were counted, with 6 Redshank, 3 Green Sandpiper, 4 Snipe, and 18 Lapwing, noted around the margins.

7 Great White Egret, 700+ Pink Footed Goose, and a group of 7 Black Swan, were recorded as 'flyovers'.

Rough Grassland/Scrub..........2 Raven, 5 Reed Bunting, 2 Jay, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Bullfinch, 1 Stonechat, 8 Fieldfare, 2 Buzzard, and 2 Barn Owl, were noted.

1 Cetti's Warbler was heard.

2 Siskin, 5 Black Swan, 2 Great White Egret, 2 Ruff, 14 Dunlin, 20+ Barnacle Goose, and 2 Greenshank, passed through.

Pools.........58 Tufted Duck, 2 Canada Goose, 1 Shelduck, 1 Little Grebe, 6 Mallard, 2 Wigeon, 18 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 11 Coot, and 1 Moorhen, were on the water, with 1 Little Egret, and 20+ Lapwing, around the margins.

5+ Grey Wagtail, were noted roosting in the SSSI reed beds.

500+ Jackdaw, were at the on-site roost.

500+ Starling, were noted roosting in the SSSI reed beds.

1 Water Rail was heard.

2 Great White Egret, 5 Black Swan, 380+ Pink Footed Goose, 500+ Canada Goose, ( which also held a flock of 20+ Barnacle Goose, and 20+ Rook, passed through.

Rough Grassland/Scrub/Gorse.........4 Mistle Thrush, 2 Raven, 1 Snipe, 8 Reed Bunting, 1 Lapland Bunting, ( flyover ), 1 Marsh Harrier, 20+ Linnet, 20+ Fieldfare, 4 Meadow Pipit, 3 Goldcrest, 2 Bullfinch, 3 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, and 1 Sparrowhawk, were noted.

1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, and 1 Woodcock, were amongst the common woodland species found.

Rough Grassland/Scrub/Gorse.......... 2 Foxes were seen playing, 1 Tawny Owl, 2 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing, 3 Stock Dove, 2 Pied Wagtail, 2 Barn Owl, 2 Raven, 2 Meadow Pipit, 4 Marsh Harrier, 1 Hen Harrier, 1 Short Eared Owl, 3 Skylark, 10+ Long Tailed Tit, 1 Jay, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Buzzard, and 2 Reed Bunting.

Pools ( + associated water's ).........with it being a Sunday morning, there was a typically higher count than usual today, due to many birds, having probably been disturbed by boats, on the nearby Shotwick Boating Lake........90 Tufted Duck, 2 Canada Goose, 14 Mallard, 1 Goldeneye, 5 Mute Swan, 3 Moorhen, 15 Teal, 10 Gadwall, 1 Pochard, 1 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 7 Coot, and 1 Scaup ( juvenile/female ), with 266 Lapwing, 1 Greenshank, 1 Grey Wagtail, and 1 Snipe, also noted.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

1 Kingfisher was noted.

Starling Roost in SSSI reed beds, and other adjacent reed beds, numbered in excess of 4000 birds, but no Barn Owl's were to be seen, attacking the roost at first light, on this occasion.

Jackdaw Roost, remains stable at 500+ birds.

2800+ Pink Footed Goose, 200+ Redshank, 2 Great White Egret, and 5 Black Swan, passed through.

Rough Grassland/Scrub/Gorse.......3 Buzzard, 5 Fieldfare, 2 Chiffchaff, ( 1 bird was heard singing ), 1 Jay, 1 Bullfinch, 2 Raven, 200+ Woodpigeon, 10+ Linnet, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 8 Stock Dove, 2 Marsh Harrier, 10+ Skylark, 2 Kestrel, 1 Merlin, 1 Sparrowhawk, 17 Redwing, and 2 Lesser Redpoll.

160+ Lapwing, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 1 Greenshank, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Green Sandpiper, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Water Rail, and 3 Cetti's Warbler, were also noted.

1000+ Pink Footed Goose, and 2 Lesser Redpoll, were observed as 'flyovers'.

Rough Grassland/Scrub/Gorse.........2 Barn Owl, ( observed hunting between 07.45am and 08.15am, giving marvellous views at times ), 30+ Redwing, 30+ Fieldfare, 2 Buzzard, 2 Coal Tit, 20+ Long Tailed Tit, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Meadow Pipit, 2 Skylark, 1 Jay, 1 Kestrel, 2 Raven, 10+ Blackbird, 6 Song Thrush, 50+ Linnet, 40+ Goldfinch, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Mistle Thrush, and 1 'possible' Richard's Pipit,......call and flight style looked good, but insufficient views of the bird, and no second opinion to hand,...... determined an unreliable ID.
