No waterfowl on lake... why? (1 Viewer)

It's the middle of May and normally I'd expect to be seeing a variety of migratory ducks etc on our local lake, as others just a few miles away do have. There aren't even the usual numbers of (Canada) geese, only a few, and the occasional Mallard. The water looks quite normal, no obvious algae. The park might be somewhat more trafficked due to COVID but most of the shore area is inaccessible and has plenty of blackbirds. What sort of unseen problem could there be?

This was a serious question about water conditions and bird behavior. (Signs prohibit feeding wildlife, which I've never seen done there. Most birds even avoid the end of the lake people can access.)
