Three things tonight: the tiger programme with Liz Bonnin; Rise of the Continents with Iain Stewart; and finally, initially attracted by the Mogwai soundtrack, the French thriller The Returned on C4.

The first episode of the latter was really intriguing and well worth a go.

Watched Prometheus last night. Started off ok but faded towards the end. Always nice to see Skye used as a backdrop as well.

Still got that to watch on Blu-ray. The new Judge Dredd is good in a sledgehammer sort of way!

Watched the first 4 episodes of Falling Skies on DVD. Sad to say it's a bit crap and will be going on eBay ASAP! Classic example of budgetary savings in a Sci Fi series by making it too wordy and skimping on the special effects.

Final Score

Lions 23 Australia 21

Ref still cac. Feel really sorry for Beale. He remains a cracking player.

Can't understand why Gatland changed the front row.

Just watched "Skyfall" on Blu-ray or the first time since seeing it at the cinema, very enjoyable.

Love the bit where the new 'Q' gives him his equipment - a gun and a radio, and he looks quizzical and Q says "Were you expecting an exploding pen?"

Just got my hands on Kurosawa's first post-war film "Waga seishun ni kuinashi" "No regrets for my youth". It was possibly one of the most controversial Japanese films - ever - when it came out in 1946. It is loosely based on the Japanese part of the Richard Sorge spy case. It'd be good to see a film made about that. A Jewish Soviet spy in Japan! If that wasn't bad enough, one of the lead characters was ........ 'dum dum duuuuuum' ..... a WOMAN!
