Exciting Updates:
Baby boom! –
As of September 2007, 22 little Bali Starlings have hatched in the wild, adding to the population of released birds on Nusa Penida.
Honours for the Foundation –
On 22nd August, the Foundation received news in writing from Dr. Ir. Tonny Soehartono, MSc, Director, Department of Biodiversity and Conservation, clearly stating his support for the continued reintroduction of the Bali Starling in Bali on the offshore island, Nusa Penida, in recognition of the Foundation’s efforts over the past 8 years.
Many happy returns of the day, another two Bali Starlings headed back to the wild –
On 25th August, the Indonesian Forestry Minister, MS Kaban, visited Nusa Penida, along with Dr. Ir. Tonny Soehartono from the Department of Biodiversity and Conservation, released another two Bali Starlings on Nusa Penida.
The Sweetest Sounds –
A call not heard for a long time from the Bali Starlings – the birds’ mating calls in the wild. In captivity obviously, there doesn’t seem much of a need to tune up to attract a mate.
