Orange Crowned? (1 Viewer)

Hello Birders,

I photographed this bird in Nebraska/Iowa in July, in a wetlands field. Is this an orange crowned warbler? If not, can you identify it for me?
Thank you very much for your help!
Kelly

LOL Kelly.... don't worry about it. It think it's happened to all of us on occasion.

I know I've done it at least a couple of times!!!

I'd call it a juvenile Common Yellowthroat due to the rounder body shape and the large eyes and bill. The fleshy gape and dull overall coloring make it a juvenile.

No worries, Kelly, it wasn't any time at all.

I agree with The Bird Nuts that your bird is a juvenile Common Yellowthroat.

Hello Delia, The Bird Nuts, Microtus, and tom baxter,

Thank you very much, all of you, for your kind words and for helping me identify the Common Yellowthroat. Thank you for sharing your skill and good eye. You're the best!
Have wonderful Holidays.
Best regards,
Kelly
