Hello everyone. This picture was taken in NW Pichincha, Ecuador (San Miguel de los Bancos) on 6/13/08. I'm having a hard time with ID. thanks.

Jose, I studied the six pages of color plates in Ridgely & Greenfield's guide and could not find "a match" for the bird in your post. Perhaps I am missing something!

I hope someone will be able to ID the hummer for you.

Agree with Mark, Your bird appears to be an immature male Green-crowned Brilliant, the buffy malar area I think is a good feature. Also known as Green-fronted..

I see the buffy, malar stripe now on the juvenile Green-crowned Brilliant pictured in R & G Field Guide. Somehow I just missed seeing it yesterday.
