Just got a chance to try out the Canon 70D. As promised, the live view function focuses quickly and acccuratly with the 500 F4 + 2x TC for F/8. Pictures to follow when I have a moment.

If the live view AF is anything like the 7D it should AF right up to f11 and beyond although it tends to be slower than normal AF. I have had AF at f16 on the 7D(400/5.6 + 1.4x tc + 2x tc) in good light and contrast.
