Dear all,

This is my first thread, I've been enjoying and learning from this great forum for a long time, but I've never written before.

I'm considering to get a new binoculars. I've narrowed the search, and right now I have two possible candidates

Kowa prominar bd 8x42 xd
Pentax zd 8x43 wp

I have searched in the past threads, but couldn't find anything definitive.

My request for help is this: for that guys who have experience using both models, is there a qualitat difference optically?Of course any comment without experience, reflexions/opinions, will be very wellcome

Thank you in advance for any input.

Welcome.
Those two models are not on the same level since the Pentax lacks ED glass, however there is also an ED version of that Pentax that looks to be pretty good:
https://www.allbinos.com/322-binoculars_review-Pentax_ZD_8x43_ED.html

It's nr. 8 in this ranking, FWIW: https://www.allbinos.com/allbinos_ranking-binoculars_ranking-8x42.html
That's a good score, however there are cheaper models which score higher, but you'd have to look in detail at the reviews to check the parameters that matter most to you.

Hello gnaerola and welcome to the forums.

I have a Kowa 8 x 42 BDXD Prominar and I am very satisfied with mine , it is a very good binocular and I use it all the time.

I cannot give an opinion on the Pentax as I have never seen or owned one.

Enjoy whichever one that you buy.

Cheers.
