On the Baker Wetlands today, May 17, 2019. I was attracted to a "squeaky" call in some brush and this fellow popped up to investigate me. Only got three shots in three seconds before it dropped back into the brush and went silent. Possible Western Kingbird? Not out of range, but would be more commonly found a few hundred miles further west in Western Kansas.

I think so. Pale grey head, no wing bars, so probably not a Myiarchus flycatcher. I don't see the white tail edges that would be diagnostic for Western, but I do see a thin rust-orange crest, so it's got to be a Tyrannus kingbird. None of the other Tyrannus kingbirds fits, on range or color (pale grey head, pale grey breast, yellow belly).

I don't believe so; no wingbars were observed; tail was very dark; lighting was tough as it was perched with sun behind it, but visually appeared to have a faint white outline to the tail; bill would be larger for GCFC.
