Mourning Dove and American Goldfinch (1 Viewer)

Hello,

So, I was watching the birds around my bird feeder, and I noticed an interesting relationship between the American Goldfinches and the Mourning Doves.

The Goldfinches eat the food in the feeder. It is a little big for them, so they break it into smaller pieces with their beaks. In this process, food always falls on the ground. The Mourning Doves, too big to fit on the feeder, wait below the feeder and eat what the Goldfinches drop.

Those Doves are smart.
