surprised that there's no mention of the Tara NP, a wonderful place where we had Ural Owl. You can also, easily get the winter roost of Pygmy Cormorants, right in the center of Belgrade and watch them whilst having a meal and a drink in one of the lovely, floating barge restaurants.

My wife had a photo of the LEO's in Kikinda, published as a centre spread in Birdwatching magazine.

It's a beautiful country, really worth a visit.
 
I think it would be great for butterflies too, even in the early, spring snow, we had Queen of Spain Fritillary, I'm sure there's a great deal more to be had.
