Saw a Bittern drop into a reedbed in South Derbyshire at 20.20 last night are Bittern usually in this area this time of year or could this be a result of the late spring ?

Sorry for the late reply, I've only just seen your post.

The Derbyshire Ornithological Society (DOS) would be interested in the details, whilst not considered Rare any longer they are indeed Unusual.

You can complete an Unusual Record form online or print one off and post it.

Details can be found on the DOS website, here. HTH

I'm fairly sure I know what site is being referred to here and if so, DOS are fully aware. Best to keep it quiet.....just in case.

I rather doubt if DOS are aware of the location of this roost but will keep an eye on things .

Ok fair enough. It could still be worth letting DOS know then. Or if you wish you could send me a PM in strictest confidence.
