Hi folks

I joined this forum today as I heard a bird but did not see it described by my uncle I heard a corn crake as I cycled in Ryehurst Lane Bracknell as I came over the bridge from cabbage hill Did anyone see that I have only heard one twice in south east never in Ireland it was around 12:30 today

Hi Eamonn and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

I don't know what you heard, I'm afraid, but I'd have thought Corncrake was rather unlikely, as they're all in the Hebrides or Ireland at the moment.

Welcome to BirdForum! I am sure you will find lots to interest you here, and I hope you enjoy your visits.

Hi delia - my uncle who is 90 and lives in kilkenny southern Ireland seen lots of them when younger. He is a farmer but I heard one about a year ago on Remenham near Henley they have been seen in nearby Hurst Berkshire but the call I heard in Ryehurst lane was a corn crake it was in meadow and the call is significantly different to other birds

Hello Eamonn, just wanted to add one more welcome to the forum.
