Young Bateleurs don't have as large a hood as adults, and they can flatten it. Looking at this pic, I'd say the bird could raise something of a hood if it tried. Tawny Eagle is a regular Aquila eagle, but this bird has short legs, long primaries and no tail showing – and it's very front heavy – all of which suit Bateleur.
