Could anyone help ID these two please.
I'm thinking the first is a Soldier Beetle and the second is a Wasp Beetle.
Both were taken near Norwich, Norfolk, UK.

Also could anybody recommend a good identification guide for UK beetles.

Many thanks

David

In addition to Andy's suggestion, I also have the following Beetle ID books.
All are coloured plates as opposed to the photographic plates int the Brock.
Insects of Britain and Western Europe - Michael Chinery (revised edition 2012)
A field guide in colour to Beetles - K.W Harde (covers all of Europe)
Ground Beetles - Trevor Forsythe (Naturalist's Handbook No. 8)
I am in no way a Bettle expert, I just have a passion for collecting books !
If you look on the N.H.B.S website, they have a comprehensive selection of Bettle books and indeed anthing else Nature related.
