Hi Seamoor,
Oh how wonderful that sounds. I've not been that far over, but some of the Opus articles might give you some ideas, try Caerlaverock, Mersehead, Mull of Galloway and Wigtown Bay - they all might give you an idea of what might be around in October.

Please look at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dumfriesandgallowaybirding/ this is up to date information on whats around and also look at my website http://www.dumfriesandgallowaybirding.webs.com/, this provides information about good birding places to visit.
WWT Caerlaverock will be worth visit as good numbers of Barnacle Geese will be in, and you never know what it might bring in.
If you have any questions use the forum and myself or some of the locals will be able to guide you as to where you should go.
