Feeder idea for garden photography (1 Viewer)

A friend of mine was chopping a willow, so asked him to chainsaw off a log for me to use. He cut a channel all the way along it so I could put seed in it.

Mounted it on the pergola, which allows me to grab photos from the conservatory without disturbing the birds. And because they feed on the log, I can make the photos look kind of natural.

I have been placing logs or branches around my feeders and baths for years. some of them I've used as feeders although in natural cavities rather than man-made. Try smearing peanut butter on the log.

I've taken the top house bit off a bird table, and mounted it to the top of that tripod stand bit. They approve.

The robins do like it.
