The Countryman is better made and has a noticeably smoother focus wheel. It is sharper too. The Explorer has a wider field of view and ED glass, the Countryman isn't as far as I'm concerned isn't truly HD. The 8x42 however doesn't suffer a lot from CA whereas the 10x does. The Natura BGA ED is a better comparison to the Explorer WA ED now, it's cheaper than a Countryman for an equal if not better performance IMO and is worth the extra money compared to the Explorer.

Until my eyes deteriorated earlier this year the 8x32 Countryman was my binocular of choice and thought they would serve me a long time. Unfortunately my sight deterioration really demanded mot light input and in the end and after much help from forum users I swapped to a pair of 10x50 Imagic porro prisms. These while not providing a cure it has helped a lot.
