Hi Guys,

As many of you may know the tripod collar of the above named lens is anything but good, do any of you know of a good alternative which can be bought?

It's been maybe 3 years since I used it, so I do not have a clear recollection. I do not remember thinking anything bad about the mount, so I doubt it had problems. Mine (which might be the v2 version) has a very smooth Delrin ring inside the mount so the lens rotates on this smooth material. It is not a metal-to-metal interface.

Also, if you get the optional LS-2 support, it has two small rubberized bearings that rotate with the lens.

If you're interested in buying a used one, send me a PM. When I sold my 200-500, the guy didn't want the lens mount so I've had it sitting in my cabinet taking up space.

Marc
