Lost Land of the Jaguar (1 Viewer)

Good show! Not sure I'd enjoy crawling through that dead log with all those whip spiders! :eek!: Wish they would show more of the wildlife and less of the people though. The Jaguar was an added bonus!

Did anyone else see Steve Backshall on 'The One Show' last night? He survived all the perils of Guyana only to break his back and several other bones in a climbing accident in this country, narrowly avoiding being paralysed. He didn't look too perky on the show last night!

They should have included an ornithologist amongst their experts or at least a birder this would have made it a more balanced programme instead of being all insects and mammals.
What was that kingfisher in the early part of the show? and I might have missed it but did they actually say what type of swifts they were?

That's what I thought. They didn't seem to have a specialist birder. Any volunteers?

Stunning programme though, and I hope they are able to save the forest as they said. I presumed the kingfisher was an Amazon, but I don't really know. Not a clue about the swifts.

I think the kingfisher was an American Pygmy Kingfisher (possibly a Green & Rufous).

A package deal of 3 nights at the Asa Wright Centre then a tour round the sites of Guyana (including a flight to Kaieteur falls) is available as a very reasonably priced package of £2650 here: http://www.motmottravel.com/mod-news_offers.htm .........now where's my chequebook?? B :)

As a confirmed bug-phobic I'd never have gone anywhere near those whip-spiders. Did anyone see that amazingly hairy huge caterpillar, too? Now that was a caterpillar! :eek!:

You won't like it when they have the world's largest spider on it then!

Superb program, who was the bravest? top of the tree on that very small platform, or over the side by that water-fall, i felt sick just watching. Roll on wed-night for the next one.
