Booby of North Coast of Borneo (1 Viewer)

I'm pretty sure this is an Red-footed Booby (Sula sula), but the dark bill tip isn't characteristic of this species. I checked several bird guides for, but couldn't find any illustrations that matched this bill coloring?

It has the dark hood of Brown which none of the others should show?

here's one with pinkish legs, if it's captioned correctly but perhaps that hood isn't as obvious as I first thought?

Rare bird off Borneo if it's Rf.

Andy

The brown in the OP's bird is rather pale and only diffusely contrasts with the whiter underparts. In Brown Booby it should always be much darker and, in an adult or subadult more strongly and sharply contrasting. A diffuse brown 'hood' is fine for a subadult Red-footed:

It's also worth noting the very solidly dark underwing, which is fine for Red-footed Booby. Brown, even an immature, should show paler whitish axillaries at least.

Thanks Andy & Andrew for confirming. There were lots of Brown Boobies flying around the ship too, but this one stood out as being quite different.

The dark bill tip is difficult to say for sure, but could it be stain from something dark?

In addition to the other things said about Brown Booby, the hood usually (read: I have not seen it differently) goes down further, so that there would be no pale area between the hood and the wing. Scroll down to the last picture on this page: http://www.birdforum.net/opus/Brown_Booby

For a short while I entertained the thought of some variant of Masked Booby, but the foot color convinced me that Andrew is right.
