For autumn and winter, Cabo de Gata, Desierto de Tabernas and Sierra Alhamilla are given as places for the trumpeter finches in "Where to watch birds -Southern & Western Spain".
Are these places still good for this species? Does anyone know other good places?

The Salinas just north of Playa Blanca. Saw plenty of them there[ its also good for a lot of other species as well].
You can get there by bus from Playa Blanca.

The headland just north of Caleta de Fuste on Fuerteventura, look for sunflower seeds left by a bench for Barbary Ground Squirrels.

If you walk past the Salinas south of Caleta De Fuste, carry on till a track, near an old ruined house, takes you west, into Barranco De La Torre . Keep on walking west and I've seen them there too.

I heard them there, Barranco de la Torre, the other day but the ones by the bench (max 5) allow relatively close approach, down to a few metres. Just follow the promenade from the Puerto past the Elba hotels to the headland. The bench is on the Caleta side. There is parking at the headland.

Went back to the headland yesterday, at least 16 Trumpeter Finches were around.
