They just might. I had some here for the first time last winter (we just moved here a year and a half ago). They stayed all winter, into spring but in late spring, they all left and I never saw them all summer long. Then, around the middle of August, I started hearing and seeing them again. Now, they are back in the yard everyday and I expect they will stay all winter again.
Wonderful mimics are the blue jay. So many calls/songs I was out with a friend a few years back and alerted him to the call of a redtailed hawk.He warned me it could be a bluetailed hawk. Huh I said and looked to see the jay overhead.

Yep... at one of the parks I go to here in St. Petersburg (Boyd Hill Nature Park) the Jays are ALWAYS making Red-Shouldered Hawk noises. I've heard them do Osprey's (in downtown St. Petersburg) too...
I have heard the red-tailed mimicry and then when I start looking towards the sky for the hawk I hear something akin to laughter from a nearby Blue Jay.
I have put out peanuts in the shell in a hanging nut feeder for them - they seem to love it!
I also hung a tray type feeder with peanuts in it and they seem afraid to go near it...maybe this one swings too much for them?
