Late afternoon visit to Swan pool 3.15pm - 4.30pm.

7 Goosanders
2 Goldeneyes
44 Canadas
110 Herring Gulls flew out to roost between 3.40pm and 4.05pm.
1 Buzzard.
1 Pochard.

Swan pool 3pm - 4.30pm.

152 Herring Gulls
80 LBB Gulls
1 Cormorant
4 Pochards
1 Kingfisher

Gull in the pre-roost which I can only describe as resembling a small Caspian Gull. Head shape, bill, small eye and posture in the water were as Caspian. Grey shade was darker than Herring Gull and was flat backed and slim. However it was a trace smaller than the LBB Gulls with which it was associating. I could stick my neck out and say it was a Caspian but I'll reserve my judgment and hope it will return another day and I can have another look.
Gulls departed later this evening at 4.05pm, and flew out south, instead of the usual north east.

RSPCA officers also attended Swan pool following a report that one of the Mute Swans had fishing line caught in its bill, but after coaxing the swans in with food it turned out to be weed in the bird's bill.

Quick visit to Swan pool at 12.45pm. A bit misty and damp.

Adult Yellow legged Gull still present.
10 Gadwall.
12 Wigeon
2 Goldeneye.

Hapoy Xmas everyone ☺
