ID of insects please (1 Viewer)

A friend of mine visited Portugal recently and took two pictures of insects and does not know what they are. I think one might be a ruddy darter? and as for the other , I haven't a clue. Your help would be appreciated:t:

The dragonfly is Trithemis annulata - Violet Dropwing.

The dragonfly is very different to any Ruddy Darter! It's a Violet Dropwing, Trithemis annulata.

The other attractive insect is an ascalaphid.
 
The second insect is a one of the 'Thread' Lacewings/Antlions. I'm familiar withNemoptera sinuata from Lesvos, but this looks more like Nemoptera bipennis.
