Gull, Jersey (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I'd be interested in thoughts on this gull, which was seen today in Jersey in somewhat adverse conditions. Presumably just a bog standard Herring, but that "hood" is pretty impressive!
Cheers

Thanks. I did have a quick look at that paper, which seems to suggest that most adult AHGs may be inseparable from HG.

Having read up a bit more about adult AGH ID, would I be right in thinking that this falls into the "some pro-AGH features, but without decent photos of the primaries not safely identifiable" category?

Pro-AGH features, if I understand correctly, would be:

Extent and heavyness of the mottling on the head
Dark surround to eye
Bill pattern
Possibly, what appear to be a retained immature covert

Would welcome any comments!
