Also forgot to say there were Pied Wagtails and Linnet in same puddles.
Had another look at 6.30 this morning ...cold and misty though then cloudy and windy...well I enjoyed SUMMER...how about you.....
There are about 8ish Lapwings in the fields and the Swallows showed up but no Martins up till 9.30.
Linnets and Pied wags still around and Chaffies always here but then saw a bird I had forgot I have had here before...a Skylark...too far for a pic today though.
Keith
Returned to Swallow wallow site around 1 ish to show a fellow snapper where it is.....again it was mixed light and only fleeting visits from the Swallows and again no Martins.
From here I parked up near Man on the Moon ans walked to the Wast Hills (Spot Fly site) as Discors had enquired about the Spot Fly's .....surprisingly it took about 25-30 mins to get there - knackered as had a bit of kit with me.
It was a waste of time as it was the same as the last time I went...the weekend after all the passage Migrants were there.....yes nothing there. In it's defence it was suffering from a gale force wind as it's perched on the highest ground around.
So the long walk back home - did get some bird pics though.....at the white cottage as they have Chickens and Peacocks....lol
Still trying to get some time out and about before this weeks wet set in I had a walk around Broadmoor Wood by the Lickeys - just to take in teh Bluebells and find my around the area......so not a vintage day but after a visit to McDonalds on way home and in time to see the relevant crucial bit of the Play-off match it was a full day.
Decided to give the local kingfishers one last chance to stick themselves on the end of my lens and have been everyday the sun has been out for a few hours at a time.
Heard a few Green Woodies and seen a few GSW's but also heard some "hammering" on wood.....heard this before from Nuthatches but have not seen any here....Lots of bird song but apart from Wren-Tits and Chaffies I don't know what they are.
Finally seen some Damsels...then only a few Beautiful Damselfly males. No Dragons ...yet !!

Pics of King female @ iso 3200 (don't ask....it will take a page to explain...he he
Thanks Joe......Me and Julie did 4 hours today (Sunday) and scarcely a bird let alone a kingfisher.....and I popped back for an hour late afternoon with same result.....
Went on a trek around the lanes south of Barnt Green and Alvechurch.
A few Swallow,Swifts and Martins but not that many as there were 1000's of insects.
At the site I had the Swallows collecting the mud earlier in May the lapwing have some big young around the stubble fields with Chaffies,Yellowhammer,Linnet,Goldfinch, Skylark and a few Swallow.
Keith :t:
Pics....Swallow...Skylark....Young and adult Lapwings shot in glorious evening light around 8.30pm.
Terrible week weather wise.....even resorted to doing some gardening just to get out the house.......
Did pop out late one evening around the lanes and was 1st Kestrel in ages just as the sun was going down.A Buzzard was eyeing the same field minutes before.
Saturday and Sunday proved blank for Kingfisher pics but a few more LBJ's about.
A real shortage of Damsels and Dragons in the fields with just the Beautiful ones doing their dances.
Keith :t:
1...Golden Kestrel
2...Fluttering Male
3..The Pair.
Weather and Light still bad for everything around the fields...saw my 1st Small Skipper though...fluttering amongst the years success...the Buttercups...no pics battery gone :eek!:
No show from any kingfishers but had a brief visit from this Blackcap.....excuse the last one ...so out of focus but a classic near miss.

Had an unexpected shift change yesterday so managed to get out for a drive about....Lot of activity around Cobley Hill with Swallows buzzing the fields...and me.
If only I had my hearing aids I would have a lot to report as I detected a few cheeps ...the Song Thrush was so loud even I heard him, and the Swallow resting on the wires were having a good old chat.
The sunset made it hard to get decent pics but managed these....
Keith :t:
!-3 Swallows.
4 Kestrel....can't make out what it has in its claws- but it was flying across field to the nest I think....
5..The farm with the phone.
Right it's OFFICIAL now.....Spring/Summer has arrived...took some time though.
Had Blue Damsels in my pond today and also ONE Damsel in the fields behind the Fisheries. Also the Ringlets were out in abundance -chasing each other and never still long.
The odd Meadow Brown showed up as did Large and I think Small Skippers.(not got a snap of what I think were Small Skippers so not certain).
No doubt I will have a go at some snaps around my pond but I WILL get some in the fields...like today.
Popped in yesterday afternoon....to look at my remote camera and see what's about.
Nothing recorded on the camera.....hopefully it does not mean there was no action...just that it was not where I had the camera pointed...lol
Apart from the millions of Damsels - Beautiful Demoiselles that is all I got to phot was a Wren..with material.....a nest or night quarters ??
Walking back through the rough grasses on a tiny path worn by me and a few dog walkers I "PUT UP" some young birds......some sort of "game" bird.
There were 4 of them and 3 went to the left and were gone...one to the right which my eyes followed ...it was SMALL and Streaked grey/buffish.
I have kept small Chinese Quail before and they rose just like these.....
So candidates are
Pheasant
R.L.Partridge
Grey Partridge..and
Quail.
This list is in order of likelihood and as I have seen/heard Pheasant I know they are here.
I know the chicks were young but no real tails..might be newborn though.
A few times over the last week I have seen the grasses moving as things make their way away from me so there are a lot of things in this field but it is a WILD field with hardly any disturbance,so who knows what could be lurking.
Keith:t:
Pics all in "challenging" light....lol....and all with the long lens.
1..Male
2-3 females
4...fighting females on my hide
5....Wren
