Leica Zoom eyepiece Vario 8.9 - 17.8 mm ASPH. - 1.25" (1 Viewer)

Has anyone used it with pentax pf 80 ed-a ( or other pentax scope )? Original zoom eyepiece does not salsify me at highest magnification - picture is not sharp, while in other scopes it is. I use my scope at seaside, lakes and fish-ponds so maximum magnification is used quite often. I have eyepieces with fixed focus ( 40x and 80x ) but this is not comfortable. So, the question is if using Leica Zoom eyepiece Vario 8.9 - 17.8 mm ASPH. - 1.25" will solve my problem or is it time to buy piggy bank and start save money for new scope ?

Jacek,
It will not reach focus!
I'm trying to test it with a barlow to see if it manage to focus but still didn't had the opportunity...
If the new Nikon Monarch series will use the traditional 1.25" it might will reach focus - I'm waiting for the start of commercialisation to test it...;)

Jacek,

How good is the image quality with your fixed 40x and 80x eyepieces? The point is, before attempting to solve your issues with a better zoom eyepiece, you need to make sure your scope is sharp enough to benefit from it. Usually (almost always) image not being sharp at maximum zoom is caused by problems in the scope, not by the eyepiece. With the 80x, you should be able to star-test and resolution-test your Pentax to be reasonably sure where the problem lies. I have personal experience of only one Pentax PF 80 ED, and that one was rather poor, but it was a long time ago.

Jacek,
Kimmo is correct when saying "Usually (almost always) image not being sharp at maximum zoom is caused by problems in the scope, not by the eyepiece", however, I had a case where a zoom ep was causing the problems... I find a bit strange that you think the image quality is ok with the 80x ep (by the way what model?), and not at 60x. I would recommend you to test another 1.25" zoom ep and see if the problems persist - let me also know what model you have.
By the way, the Zeiss zoom also will not focus...
