Glass screen protector removal. (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I need to change the screen protector on my Canon 550D. It's the glass sort and is cracked right across due to a 'hiccup' as the camera body parted company with the lens and hit the deck .. Is there a 'proper' way to remove the old protector please ? I've heard of using a hair drier to warm the glass or even just using a credit card to ease the glass away from the camera screen ? Anyone any ideas please ?

Thanks very much ..

Dave.

If it's one that's been put over the screen after purchase rather than the one built into the camera then the best way is to carefully slide a stiff piece of flat plastic under the protector and gradually work it between protector and camera, keeping it as flat as possible. I used a credit card but a thinner piece of rigid plastic would work better. The glass protector is likely to crack further as it is damaged already so work slowly. Mine came away in a few pieces, very sharp ones at that, but it left the screen undamaged and was easily replaced.
