The female at the Dyfi nest has finally laid her first EGG! She is ringed - Blue 12, a 3 year old from Rutland Water. Her name at the Dyfi is 'Glesni' - which means blueness. Despite most other nests beginning to rear chicks, at the Dyfi, it's been a roller-coaster of a year so far and Monty, the male, and Blue 12 only settled together on May 3rd. This means it has taken 19 days for Blue 12 to lay the first egg since being with Monty. The 22nd of May is seen as the last day for eggs, however, a nest at Threave Castle in Dumfries and Galloway laid eggs even later last year, so let's hope the pair at the Dyfi can successfully raise (a) chick(s).
