My husband and I are keen amateurs, with an interest in birds, mammals and culture . We are considering a trip to Sri Lanka. We are wondering when the best time of year is to visit and would need guides. Any advice appreciated. Thank you .

Hi, Carol. Look on Cloudbirders.com, filter for Sri Lanka and you'll see that most birders visit between Nov and Mar.

There are several excellent tour companies on the island, all easily found on the web. Send them an outline of what you want and ask for quotes. Judge them on price and the confidence their reply gives you. Don't be afraid to ask a few follow up questions and again, judge them by their responses. Also, check some trip reports and previous threads on this forum. The more research you do, the better prepared you'll be.
